79 SERIES ROOF RACK KITS FOR THE SINGLE CAB AND DUAL CAB UTE

THE TRAY FILLS UP FIRST, THE ROOF IS WHAT IS LEFT

Ask any 79 owner where the space goes and the answer is the same. The tray takes the toolboxes, the water, the fridge slide and the recovery gear, and by the time the trip is loaded there is nowhere left for the awning, the swags and the traction boards. A 79 Series roof rack answers that problem specifically. It gives the ute a second deck above the cab for the long, light and awkward gear, and it keeps the tray free for the heavy things that belong down low.

SINGLE CAB AND DUAL CAB ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE

This is the one thing to get right before ordering. The dual cab carries its second row under a longer roof, so a dual cab rack is a longer platform with wider clamp spacing. The single cab roof is short and square by comparison, and takes a 752mm tray. A rack built for one will not sit correctly on the other, and no amount of adjustment makes up the difference. Check the body style on the listing rather than the year.

VDJ79 AND GDJ79 FITMENT, NO DRILLING

Toyota carried the cab profile through the 2024 facelift without changing the roof, so a rack cut for the VDJ79 V8 generally suits the GDJ79 as well. Gutter mount legs clamp into the factory rain channel, which makes fitment bolt-on and fully reversible if the ute is ever sold or handed back at the end of a lease. Full length platforms give the most usable deck. Three-quarter versions stop short of the rear so a roof top tent can fold off the back without fouling the rack.
