The 2023 onwards 2.8L diesel facelift uses the 1GD-FTV engine that also runs in the Hilux and 150 Prado. While the engine is smaller capacity than the V8 it replaces, the airflow demand is still substantial under full load, and the factory intake position behind the grille still sits in the dust cloud. The 2.8L diesel benefits significantly from a Safari ARMAX or V-Spec snorkel for the same reasons every other 70 Series does. Clean air at the intake, water-crossing safety, and a noticeable drop in how often the air filter needs servicing on dusty roads.

SAFARI ARMAX AND V-SPEC, 2.8L-SPECIFIC AIRBOX MATCHING

Each snorkel in this collection is a Safari ARMAX (the premium high-flow option) or Safari V-Spec (the proven cost-effective option). Both are moulded from UV-stabilised polyethylene that resists stone impacts, UV degradation, and the extreme temperatures the engine bay sees. The intake bore is sized for the 1GD-FTV airflow requirements specifically, which differs from both the older 1HZ and the larger 1VD-FTV V8. The airbox adaptor seals the snorkel body to the GDJ-era airbox housing. Mounting uses the new GDJ guard shape with templates that mark the required cuts precisely. Installation typically takes a half day in a workshop or a full afternoon at home.
